I purchased this mixer as a Christmas present for my husband, who is the cookie baker at our home. Using it to make 78 dozen assorted varieties, he was very pleased with its performance, especially with thick peanut butter cookie dough. The extra large beaters are much nicer than those of the handheld beater we previously used, and he really liked the way the beaters pulled the mix in from the outside edges of the pans. Blending ingredients was accomplished thoroughly with no unmixed clumps in the batter. The included deep, heavy stainless steel bowls are wonderful; easy to clean, sturdy, and of good size. The large bowl easily handles a double batch of cookie dough or enough mashed potatoes for at least 8 people. I use the smaller bowl when cooking for my husband and myself, as it holds between a pint and a quart and is the perfect size when cooking for 2.
Before purchasing this mixer I was a bit concerned that it would be underpowered for mixing thick batter and dough. I was pleasantly surprised to find it works flawlessly! Most of the cookie recipes my husband baked used 4-5 cups of flour (he usually makes double batches), and the mixer handled them without any problem. It is MUCH quieter in operation than our old handheld model, and we were both very happy to see it doesn't splatter the walls and countertops like our old mixer did. The automatic turntable under the bowl makes prolonged mixing a breeze, which is a blessing for us "older folks" who don't have as much arm strength as we used to. This mixer is lightweight plastic, easy to lift and store in a cupboard, but it is perfectly stable in use because of the heavy stainless steel bowls.
The only possible concern we found was the speed control markings on the dial. They are printed on a shiny paper-like surface which MIGHT become hard to read after repeated use and cleaning. Since we've only used the mixer for a month, that's just an impression and may not happen. However, that issue doesn't bother us because we could "sense" the speed we needed and didn't use the markings anyway. You control the speed by rotating the dial - the further you turn the dial the faster the beaters turn.
Overall, we are delighted with this mixer and were so pleased we immediately purchased a second as a gift for a relative who loves to bake. She is just as impressed and happy with it as we are with ours. She even used hers to mix bread dough and reported it did the job with no problem. I feel comfortable rating this item with 5 stars and highly recommend it for everyday household use.

The powerful motor has 12 easy-to-set speeds that can handle any mixing task. You can knead dough or stir ingredients on the lower speeds, smooth batters or mash potatoes on the medium speeds, and whip cream or prepare frosting on the highest speeds. An electronic sensor detects how large your quantities are and adjusts the speed up or down automatically to accommodate larger or smaller loads.
