Customer Review: does the job

This cooker worked well when we used it to make a potato curry recipe we got off the internet. We didn't realize that many internet recipes assume a 6 qt capacity, so since this model only has a 3 qt capacity we had to run two batches!
We are cooking for the two of us and one batch was enough for each of us to have a big bowl of curry with enough left over for us both to have some in lunch the next day. That is a pretty perfect size. I wouldn't want something much bigger because I just don't have that kind of room for leftovers in the fridge, or that kind of appetite for the same foods over and over. On the other hand: if I don't get at least one round of leftovers out of a meal, then I feel a little bit cheated. For roughly the same amount of prep work, I prefer to get one nice meal, and one leftovers meal. So this is a perfect size for the two of us.
The lid does not fit super tightly; I can see a little gap between where the lid is resting on the ceramic insert. I worried we would lose a lot of moisture, but I needn't have worried. The curry was super moist, the lid didn't rattle, the food was thoroughly cooked.
The controls are nice and simple... Hi, Low, Off. No need to worry about programming or anything. If power were to go out in the middle of a cycle it would resume by itself as soon as power is restored.
I DO wish there were a timer that would automatically put the cooker into a rest mode, just in case I get home late from work, but really as long as I'm cooking something reasonably moist or soupy, I think even four or five hours of "overcooking" on the low setting wouldn't result in any serious problem.
I'm very curious to learn how much it costs for the electricity to power this cooker for 8 hours at a time.
Anyway, it's a good product. We were given it by the inlaws several years ago, but have just rediscovered it in the cupboards. I hope to see a crock pot revival in this country. Crock pot cooking can be very good for you and inexpensive as well as easy.
