Customer Review: Wonderful slow cooker
Summary: 5 Stars
While I like the stoneware slow cookers for soups, stews, and chili, this one has several advantages.
1) The cooking pan is much lighter weight and easier to handle.
2) You can brown meats in the pan on the stove, then put it on the base.
3) The heat control is variable. Most of the new slow cookers with the
high/medium/low (or keep warm) settings are too hot, they boil even
on the lowest setting.
This is the fourth one I've bought. The first is an older model, and doesn't have the knob on the top. While some say they dislike the knob, I've had the slippery glass lid shoot from my grasp on more than one occasion, so I like the knob better. I bought the second as a gift for my Mom, who has trouble with the heavy stoneware crocks, and she loves that she can put the pan on the stovetop to brown meats. The third is a gift for a friend which I haven't yet given. The fourth is for me when my old one wears out :)
